Frequently Asked Questions
How do i sign up for classes & events:
You can easily sign up for any TV classes or events online by heading to our Schedule or Events tab and hitting “sign-up” or purchasing your ticket via our Eventbrite widget (you’ll see this widget occasionally displayed for speciality events). As a pop-up studio we do REQUIRE PRE-REGISTRATION for all classes. We’ve learned that this is the most effective way to manage our community studio process since we do not have a till and do not accept cash. If you arrive early to a class you can always pre-register online when you arrive! If you do not have internet access and are unable to pre-register online we’re happy to accommodate you. Please email us at info@trapvinyasa.com so we can make arrangements to better assist you.
How do i de-register for a class?
If you are unable to attend the class you pre-registered for and would like to DE-register please do so by creating an account on our website HERE and de-registering for your class. We also de-register all students who do not show up for the class they pre-registered for. When you de-register for a class you can still use that class pass for another class. Simple pre-register for the class you’d like to attend via your account log in HERE. Please be mindful your class pass will expire either 90 or 120 days after it is purchased depending on the type of pass you purchased.
are Trap Vinyasa™ classes accessible for beginners?
TV 55 and TV Core 55 are accessible for all beginner yogis, no previous yoga experience required! Although because Trap Vinyasa™ classes are a full-body workout we do suggest you have some group fitness experience. If you are a complete beginner please join us for our Intro to Yoga Series open to BIPOC and allies.
Do I have to attend the Trap Vinyasa™ classes in order?
You do NOT need to attend TV 55 or TV Core 55 in any particular order as the levels are the same. Although because Trap Vinyasa™ classes are a full-body workout we do suggest you have some group fitness experience.
Do Class Passes Expire?
Single class passes expire 90 days after their purchase date. All other passes (including 2, 4 and 8 class passes) expire 120 days after their purchase date. No exceptions ya’ll! We’re a boutique yoga studio and utilize these terms to carry out our mission and serve community. Thank you for respecting these terms.
Are classes refundable or transferable?
Class passes are neither refundable or transferable. We’re a boutique yoga studio and utilize these terms to carry out our mission and serve community. Thank you for respecting these terms.
what makes Trap Vinyasa™ different from trap yoga?
Trap Vinyasa™ is different from trap yoga in that it features trademarked, proprietary sequences that combine yoga asana, with dance and body weight exercises. Each of our 4 classes offer a unique choreographed yoga-fitness experience that cannot be found anywhere else - you aren’t just doing various yoga poses to hip hop music but will enjoy an immersive, full-body practice highlighting the chakras and the 4 elements of hip hop.
Is there music in all your classes?
Our Intro to Yoga Series features no music.
Do you offer community scholarships?
Our mission is to make yoga accessible to BIPOC and allies so we turn absolutely no one for lack of funds. We do offer donation-based classes with our new instructors and scholarships for classes. If you’d like to receive a drop-in scholarship for a class please don’t hesitate to email us at info@trapvinyasa.com so we can make arrangements for you.
Do you have mats to rent?
Because we are a pop-up studio space the props we have available change depending on what the space we’re leasing out has available. At our Yoga on Beacon location offers mats, blocks, blankets, and bolsters. However our class location at Twi Chi West studio has limited mats and props available. For this reason we encourage students to bring their own mats.
Is this a “real” yoga class?
Trap Vinyasa™ teaches students to combine the storytelling power of hip hop with the healing nature of yoga to rewrite the stories they’ve been told about their bodies. Our community offerings pay homage to traditional yoga practices and philosophies while bringing cultural representation and inclusion to the practice in order to invite more BIPOC and allies onto their mats. Everything we offer and stand for is real yoga.
Is this a twerk class? Is it sexual?
Here you’ll learn how to identify as a sensual vessel as opposed to a sexualized body with the understanding that sensuality equates to having a sensory experience with one’s body, drawing you into the present moment. Sensuality has nothing to do with sexuality but can lead to sexual liberation which we wholeheartedly support. Yes we practice hip undulations and static shaking through the hips to release the energy and shame held throughout the groin and 2nd chakra but those movements are lightly peppered throughout the practice and do not define it as a whole. What you feel and how you define our practice is completely up to you, however we’re more than twerking.
